Please note: it is important for you to read this, if you have any questions at all about Yanni. Please, do not email me before reading this -- and look over the rest of the site, as well. You'll probably find your answers that way. I don't have a lot of spare time, so I can't answer the same questions repeatedly. Thanks for understanding.

If you do ask a question which is already answered here, I may simply reply by with the address of this page, or possibly not answer at all, if I don't have time to do so. This is not to be mean -- I apologize for this, but I get a lot of email (on this and many other subjects), and can't answer everyone individually.

By the way, the info provided here may not be 100% accurate, so please take it as such. Since I am not Yanni, nor do I have any affiliation with him, I can't ask him these questions. :) I do, however, make every effort to ensure the answers are as accurate as possible.

    Q. Are you Yanni, or do you work for Yanni?

    A. No!!!! This site, the Yanni Fans Mailing List, and my email address (celinec@teleport.com) have nothing to do with Yanni. Nothing at all. I'm just a Yanni fan who runs an unofficial site about Yanni. Q. Can you (which is me, Celine) send me any information on Yanni? I don't know what I could send you which isn't already on this site, so please don't ask me. I get this request quite often, and it really puzzles me... please, explore this site. All the Yanni info I have is on these pages. I simply don't have the time to email everyone individually. Q. Do you (Celine) speak/read any languages other than English? I'm sorry, but I'm not bilingual... though I wish I was. English is my limit, so please don't email me in Spanish, French, etc. I appreciate not everyone can write well in English, but I simply cannot respond in another language. Yes, I'm aware of translation services, but they don't fix grammar, etc., so something could literally be lost in the translation. Q. Does Yanni have a Christmas album, or plans for a Christmas album? A. Nope, on the first, and no on the second, as far as anyone knows. I doubt he will ever record one, but never say never. If he ever does, I suspect it will be all original songs, since Yanni only does his own music. Q. What are the words to Aria and/or Niki Nana? A. There aren't any real words to either song (except in Niki Nana where parts are actual English words).

    About Aria: The music is loosely based on the French opera from the 19th century called 'Lakme' by Leo Delibes, but Yanni didn't use actual words in the song -- they are vocal expressions or sounds made with singing voices. I'm aware of some the sounds seem like words -- especially French words -- but they aren't... at least, probably not intentionally.

    About Niki Nana: Most of it is nonsense words... look on the inside of the "Tribute" CD booklet for the "lyrics." Yes, parts are in English... and, no, the rest is not Greek or any other language. The sounds may have been influenced by one or more languages, but that is all.

    Q. What is the music from the British Airways commercials called? The song is Aria. Yanni and Malcolm McLaren (who used to manage the Sex Pistols) adapted the music from an opera (see the question directly above for more info on that) for the commercial, and then the song was fully developed after that, and was included on "Dare to Dream." It's also appeared on compilation albums. Q. How old is Yanni? When was he born? Where was he born? A. He was born on November 14, 1954 -- you do the math. Many publications mistakenly have Nov. 4, 1954, but Nov. 14 is the correct date. And he was born in Kalamata, Greece. Q. Where can I write to Yanni? Does he have an email address? A.     There is no email address, alternate snail mail address, and no phone number in which to reach him. This is the best information I have. I do know everything sent to this address is looked at, but due to the volume of items they recieve, they cannot respond to everyone who writes or sends things to Yanni. I can't relay messages to him. I can do nothing to assist you in this area.

    Q. Is this an official Yanni site? If not, where is the official one? A. Nope, this site isn't official. The official site is at http://www.virginrecords.com/yanni (the domain of yannitribute.com doesn't seem to want to work anymore). It's a good site, so check it out. Q. When is he going to perform in my area? A. Good question. I know of absolutely no tour dates at this time. In spite of this, some of you still write to me asking... please, please, please don't. If I know of anything, I will post it to this site. I promise... really! Q. Can you help me get an audition to be in Yanni's band? A. No, I can't. As of right now, I don't know. Probably in 2000 at the earliest, but I really can't be sure. I don't have any solid information on this. Q. I have no way of doing any of this... so, please refrain from asking since I can be of no assistance. I wish I could help, but I simply can't. I am, after all, just another Yanni fan. Q. Did Yanni cut his hair? Who is he dating now? Where in Florida is his new house? A. Um, no I don't think so, I have no idea nor is it my business, and somewhere near Ft. Lauderdale I think, but I really don't have a clue. Q. What kind of music does Yanni listen to? A. Yanni has said in more than one interview that he doesn't listen to music. He does, on ocassion, flip through radio stations, but he gets bored and stops. I have read he likes Peter Gabriel, but I don't know how often he listens to Gabriel's music, or even if he still does. Q. Are there any Yanni DVDs available? A. There is a DVD of "Live at the Acropolis"... the catch is, it's part of a 6 disc box set called "Private Years." It is, basically, one great big greatest hits release, with the DVD as the 6th disc. Not a bad investment, if you can afford it. Click the link for CDnow information on the box set. Where can I (meaning you, the reader) find a certain Yanni song? Check the extensive Yanni Discography. If you can't find it on there, then it probably doesn't exist. If you're looking for "In Celebration of Man" from the NBC golf coverage, you won't be able to find it, as it has never been released.
